February’s round of Games with Gold titles for Xbox were just announced by Major Nelson and provides variations of two themes with Ninjas (or Assassin) on the Xbox One side and racing on the Xbox 360 side.
The games this month are:
- Shadow Warrior (Xbox One, Feb 1 – Feb 28)
- Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India (Xbox One, Feb 16 – Mar 15)
- Split/Second (Xbox 360, Feb 1 – Feb 15)
- Crazy Taxi (Xbox 360, Feb 16 – Feb 28)
Shadow Warrior is a reboot of an old FPS from the developers of Duke Nukem 3D which at the time was just as controversial as it’s more famous cousin.
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India is a side scrolling platformer set in Ubisoft’s long running universe. At least from my early impressions of the earlier game set in China, it reminds me of Prince of Persia Classic but focused on providing that Assassin’s Creed experience.
Split/Second was a racing game that despite good reviews for its movie spectacle style track racing fell by the wayside amongst a flood of other racing games. Blur from the developers of the Project Gotham Racing series was also a victim at this time too.
Crazy Taxi is a port of the Dreamcast version of the game minus the memorable soundtrack. Long time Xbox players would have experienced something similar with The Simpsons: Road Rage but would probably prefer that if it were ever made backward compatible.
What do you think of next month’s selection? Feel free to comment below!
Split/Second is outstanding, glad to see it getting a bit of love. (Blur is great, too. Absolutely criminal that those games did as badly as they did.)

I agree – for a while it seemed that there was only a small number of developers who were able to make successful racing games. The situation seems to have improved a little now which is nice to see. 🙂

There’s still a bit much of an emphasis on sim-style racing for my liking, though some of the recent Need for Speeds have been good.
Basically I just want a new Ridge Racer. 🙂

Now that you have me thinking back I’d be VERY happy for a new Outrun! I really enjoyed the sequel that appeared on Xbox (2006/Coast to Coast?)… it was such a happy and easy to jump into kind of game.
