This is the ninth in the series of adventures around the Known World of Mystara where I am converting the setting to 5th Edition as we play based on the choices of the players. It ran for four sessions from the 21st of February 2018 to the 4th April 2018.
This was the last gazetteer I collected in the series and the one I knew the least about. It is a country ruled by guilds where your career as tied to a specific guild and if you did not belong to that guild you were not permitted to practice their crafts.
They started off with a quest to help a clergyman explore his faith up a mountain side. Except for trading away one of the party members they mostly completed the tasks of ascension and discovered the doorway to another world.
They were then assigned a job to help a guild breaker to escape the city and retribution for practising a craft and not belonging to the correct guild. His family though death was too harsh and arranged for the party to smuggle the elf to a supportive ship in port.
Then the group was hired to negotiate with Nixies in the captial’s bay and convince them to move elsewhere, but they decided that killing them was preferable so avoided negotiations and killed the lot of them. Not very heroic of them I might add. These guys might not make it to the final campaign.
They then travelled through Karameikos and journeyed to the final destination of the previous campaigns after having a brief encounter with orcs along the way.
Six players, each having backgrounds that fitted into the setting or changing the setting slightly to allow for the backgrounds to work.
Started in the city of Minrothad on Trader Isle as part of the Guilds.
- Nithian descent, dark skinned
- Water – because well all the water around the place. Seems to have been the best spot for them to set up a colony of a water loving race of people.
- Silver – We now have a contingent of silver dragons that are connected to the island
Notable changes to the setting:
- Addition of water Genasi and Silver Dragonborn to the islands is the only real change made for this short campaign.
