Forza Horizon 4 – The return to Summer

Now that Forza Horizon 4 has cycled through all the seasons we return to where it all began with Summer. In that time though I’ve unlocked a lot of events and have almost everything available to me. This is the point when the big events appear…

Fast cars, pretty sights… can’t get much better than this.

When you’ve reached the final round (usually level ten) in any of the racing disciplines, you’ll find that a special “final” event opens and they are some of the longest races you’re going to find in the game.

The first one for me was “The Gauntlet” from the dirt racing series that crosses the map from east to west. In the right car (I used my Hoonigan Gymkhana Focus, see last pic) it was an absolute joy to run through. This was followed up by “The Colossus” from the road racing series which was also a great run that started from the southern end of the map working its way up and had a lot of gentle curves that really encouraged having a fast car with great handling.

A bit Aussie muscle burning up the streets.

After completing each one of these you’re crowned champion for that series and if you’re listening to an in-game radio station you’ll likely hear about your achievement too which is a nice touch. All the races remain on your map too so it’s easy to return to them and try to better your times or attempt them in other vehicles.

Still, after a month of playing I’ve got plenty more to do. There’s one more barn find left for me to find and two more championships to complete. A new set of “Horizon Stories” also arrived in the last update that focused on British cars – I really hope they keep making more of these as they each bring their own themed narrative that allows some interesting race challenges to be presented to players.

The coolest action shot I am ever going to take in this game…

It’s been a great month of racing in Forza Horizon 4 and the game has made a significant dent in my PUBG play time due to its absolute brilliance. And with more content on the way including two expansions I imagine it will continue to offer more distractions over the next few months. 🙂

Forza Horizon 4 is out now for PC and Xbox One. And if you have Game Pass, download this game already!
