Star Wars Campaigns Revisited #5 – The Core Rules Adventures

The Core Rules

Each of the core rule books has its own adventure that can be run with the characters. These I would run as separate sessions and would the last time I’d run an adventure in a single session.

Edge of the Empire – Core Rules Adventure “Trouble Brewing”

Run on the 10th of February 2017.

Edge of the Empire Core Rulebook.

In this adventure you get to do some bounty hunting though it was amusing to note that a possible ship they can acquire does not have any stats in this book. A minor oversight I am sure.

Highlights were the continuing romance between the diplomat and every imperial officer who crosses her path. There were interesting discussions with the non stated NPC’s being far more interesting than those that did have stats. And it culminated with the bounty hunter of the group going guns blazing and killing another bounty hunter already on the hunt. So has repercussions to be felt down the line if he was to try and claim the bounty.

Episodes of the adventure:

  • Introduction (6.5 pages)
  • Becoming Embroiled (15.5 pages) – not really episodic in this story, could split some area’s up but really needed defined breaks, also no suggested XP awards either.

Set on Formos, you get to meet the following characters in the adventure (Rival unless specified):

  • Mama Nobah (background only)
  • Jok Nonah (background only)
  • Vreebo Gango – Rodian wallflower (background only)

  • “Vagrant” YV-666 Medium Freighter (background only)

Age of Rebellion – Core Rules Adventure “Perlemian Haul”

Run on the 24th of February 2017.

Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook.

This adventure has the party trying to hijack an imperial supply ship as part of a convoy.

The highlights were using a droid PC to play against the Imperial’s disdain for droids as thinking entities and having it deliver stun grenades to the various areas helping to take the ship quietly and quickly.

Episodes of the adventure:

  • Introduction (3.5 pages) – contains a nice section on how to deal with duty in the adventure
  • Martle Station (7 pages)
  • Stern to Stem (9 pages) – Beautiful map of a temple-class starship, though it looks like an upside down nebulon-b frigate. It also has three cargo slots with five choices so can be tailored to the groups duty requirements easier
  • The Prize (3.5 pages) – Again no suggest XP for the adventure complete

Set on Martle Station in the Remduba system, you get to meet the following characters in the adventure (Rival unless specified):

  • Passk, Trandoshan Information Broker
  • Imperial Navy Trooper (minion)
  • Varla Prule, Corrupt Governor
  • Raf, Zabrak Workgang Leader
  • Martle Station Dockhands (minion)
  • IT-O Interrogation Droid

Set on M226 in hyperspace, you get to meet the following characters in the adventure (Rival unless specified):

  • Petty Officer Tera Wen, Security Chief
  • M226 Navy Troopers (minion)
  • M226 Navy Crewmen (minion)
  • Tik, Ranat Leader
  • Ranat Stalker (minion)
  • M226 Crew Chief
  • M226 Navy Crewman (minion) – repeated
  • NR-5 Maintenance Droid
  • Ranat Scout (minion)
  • Mark IV Patrol Droid (minion)
  • M226 Navy Trooper (minion) – repeated
  • Lt. Commander Jilan Noor, Imperial Officer (nemesis)
  • Lieutenant Hyzgan Troo, Imperial Officer
  • M226 Bridge Crew (minion)

Vehicles introduced in the adventure:

  • Star Galleon Armed-Transport
  • “M226” Temple-Class Heavy Freighter
  • Aratech “Shiphand” Cargo Skiff

Force and Destiny – Core Rules Adventure “Lessons from the Past”

Ran on the 10th of March 2017.

Force and Destiny Core Rulebook.

A chance at finding a lost Jedi treasure…

The highlights of this adventure were the abilities of force users to drop in story plot points when they are built with see missed plot thread or detect plot point abilities. Not exactly what they are called but they work pretty much like that when used in the game allowing the games master to give direction as part of the game narrative instead of having to prod players. I also loved the ship and was a shame to not be able to recover it as part of the storyline.

Episodes of the adventure:

  • Introduction (4 pages)
  • A Wealth of Knowledge (9.5 pages)
  • The Wreck of the Sanctuary (5.5 page) and the return of the suggested XP awards for the adventure

Set on Eriadu, you get to meet the following characters in the adventure (Rival unless specified):

  • Ashur Sungazer
  • Campus Security Guard (minion)
  • Eren Garai (nemesis)
  • Armed Security Guard (minion)

Set in the Koler system, you get to meet the following characters in the adventure (Rival unless specified):

  • Damaged Basilisk (nemesis)
  • Tactical Assassin Droid

Equipment introduced in the adventure:

  • Holocron of Val Isa

Vehicles introduced in the adventure:

  • “Sanctuary” Hammer-head cruiser – no stats for this as it’s background only
  • “Starhound” Simiyiar-class light freighter – uses stats from the main section of the book
