This week provided some surprise new additions to the LucasArts catalogue on GOG.com. After a month and a half since the last release, gamers are being rewarded again with some impressive titles:
- Outlaws
- Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders
- Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb
- Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge
- The Dig
- Loom
Long before Red Dead Redemption the life of a gunfighter was best experienced in Outlaws; a first person shooter that combined the technology behind Dark Forces with an art style reminiscent of Full Throttle. Of the adventure games, the one I’m most interested in is Zak McKracken as it is the first time I’ve actually seen the 256 colour VGA version; previous versions I’ve played have been for the C64 and ST/Amiga.
Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb is a vastly underestimated game developed by the team responsible for the excellent Buffy the Vampire Slayer beat-em-up on the classic Xbox. The game’s ability to mix up mêlée combat with adventuring elements really helps it stand on its own merits and not come across as another attempted Tomb Raider clone like it’s predecessor Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.

I loved Outlaws all those years ago. Very tempting 🙂
