Polygon has an excellent article on the soon to arrive Horizons update for Elite: Dangerous (in beta) that does a great job in explaining what a user’s experience will be like when they try out their first planetary landing and scuttle about the surface in their own buggy.

The article has the expansion exiting beta on the 15th of December on PC so it may not be long now until players are bouncing around moons stirring up trouble. Mac and Xbox One releases have not been announced yet so expect some time to pass before we see those appearing.

Once I have it downloaded I’ll see for myself if my interstellar driving is any better than my flying…
