I was a big fan of 24… A series that relied on each episode being a cliffhanger to the next. Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer sealed the deal – he made even the craziest of plotlines seem like another day in office.
Homeland in its first season evoked a similar fascination for me but also turned it upside down. Good people could be bad and vice versa, with a whole lot of crazy in between.
With season two in full swing, it is reassuring to see that it has been possible to keep the same high standard of drama whilst finding a way to continue the Carrie/Nicolas byplay that worked so well. I never thought they’d find a way to get them back together but it happened and works brilliantly.
I don’t know how long they will be able to keep this up but I’m loving it.
