There’s a great article on Kotaku by Dyad (PS3) developer Shawn McGrath about his experience and admiration for the Doom 3 codebase which was just made publicly available.
It’s quite cool to read of game developers having such public admiration for the quality of a peers work at this kind of technical level. Even more so when they spend the time to write a detailed article about it.
Exploring idTech and the work of John Carmack is not new. The man’s technical legacy in game development is hard to match, but I think this article is great for showing how consistency and standards go a long way to making great code.
