Last week it was announced that coinciding with the launch of Furious 7 in cinemas, a standalone expansion to Forza Horizon 2 entitled Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious will be released for both Xbox One and Xbox 360.
It will be available free from March 27th until April 10th for both Xbox One or Xbox 360. After April 10th, the expansion will cost $10.
There were certainly a lot of raised eyebrows here when we first head the announcement but it makes some sense. Before The Rock decided to have a punch on with Vin Diesel, the films played on the angle of alternative car culture which is also a direction Forza Horizon 2 takes to stand apart from the more hardcore Forza Motorsport.
This mash up could work in that FH2 can leverage the film’s brand whilst Furious can be marketing a credible game from an established developer. I think it helped Forza Motorsport when it began aligning itself with Top Gear, so why not its less serious brother tie in with a movie?
