Next month’s Games with Gold titles for Xbox have been announced and there are many hours of gameplay here which should satisfy those looking for a long term distraction. The games for June are:
- Speedrunners – June 1-30, Xbox One
- Watch Dogs – June 16-July 15, Xbox One
- Assassin’s Creed III – June 1-10, Xbox 360
- Dragon Age Origins – June 16-30, Xbox 360
In addition to those, there will also be bonus DLC for the recently released Phantom Dust – something that certainly will give me incentive to take another look at that.
Speedrunners is a new release that turns a platformer into a racing game as you and a group of friends try to complete the courses by any means necessary… even at the expense of the others.
Watch Dogs was Ubisoft’s first attempt at a hacker themed GTA clone – we weren’t too impressed with it at the time and the game probably borrows a little too much from the publisher’s other franchises but you can’t go wrong with the price.
Assassin’s Creed III takes would be killers to a new time and frontier as they fill the shoes of a new assassin in a version of the early United States. I’ve not played many of the games in the franchise since the first two but for long time Games with Gold members you should have most of the early games in your catalogue now.
Finally, Bioware’s Dragon Age Origins takes what they learned from their classic D&D games and applies it to a new fantasy world of their own design. It offers a considerable amount of playtime coupled with differing story paths depending on your starting character.
Watch Dogs didn’t do much for me (bought it at launch) but I did enjoy Assassin’s Creed 3 (except for the end “boss” fight).
