The Xbox team posted up a new video in the last day that revealed many of the new features coming to players soon with Insiders the first to check it out.
The first big change is to the home page which is greatly simplified but now more oriented towards user customisation. Not only can games be pinned here but there are also “content blocks” which target specific games or users. The content blocks remind me of widgets you might have on a smartphone – they are very specific in what they do but have enough features to cover most basic needs. A lot of them can be added to the page too.
The guide menu has been revamped yet again with all tabs now appearing in a horizontal strip at the top that can be quickly navigated through via the bumpers which makes its operation consistent with the rest of the dashboard and frees up more space for content.
No date has been set for when this update will launch but it seems likely we’ll be seeing it before the Xbox One X ships – Microsoft would definitely want their shiny new console to have a similarly shiny dashboard to go with it.
Looking forward to taking a look at this once my Xbox One S updates to it. I haven’t received the preview update as yet.
