2018 is going to be a big year in gaming. I thought I’d share my thoughts on what my anticipated titles are.
Currently being the start of the year there isn’t a lot to entice me. I’ve also bought a lot of titles on the various digital sales so probably need to catch up a bit now. January will mainly be spent playing Assassin’s Creed Origins and Middle Earth: Shadows of War.

I’m intrigued about Sea of Thieves. If there is a huge open world and solo play is achievable I’m definitely up for this game.
The first new titles I will be looking at in 2018 are Sea of Thieves & Far Cry 5. I think with what Ubisoft have done with Assassin’s Creed Origins is amazing and with Far Cry 5 having a similar extra year’s development time, it can only be good. This could be the best Far Cry game yet. I’m still on the fence a little with Sea of Thieves but I am hopeful it will be really good and that solo play is fun. Another notable releases in March are a current gen update of Assassin’s Creed Rogue and the new co-op adventure A Way Out.

I can’t wait to sink my teeth into The Crew 2.
Later in the year I am hoping for some great fun with The Crew 2 (sometime mid year) and Red Dead Redemption 2. I sunk a lot of hours into the original The Crew game (and the expansions) and The Crew 2 does look like a much prettier and varied version of the game. Red Dead Redemption 2 from the early trailers looks absolutely stunning and the original game was pretty amazing, both for single and multi player. Certainly a huge anticipated game for me this year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is very high on my anticipated list.
If previous years are to go by then Forza Horizon 4 should be out later this year, and I am very much looking forward to that. If any of the rumours are true we might be looking at Tokyo in Japan for the location. I’m hoping for a bigger world and the ability (fingers crossed) for you to be able to actually own property to store some of the awesome cars you collect. I realise these are just on my hope list but I can dream, can’t I?
What games are you looking forward to this year? Feel free to add your comments below.
I’m keen to see how Sea of Thieves turns out… It keeps looking better every time I see it. π

I really hope Sea of Thieves delivers. I guess we don’t have that long to find out.

A top 20 list sounds like a great idea.

Monster Hunter World, which comes out this friday and the new Spiderman game. Which I absolutely cannot wait for!

The Spider-Man game looks great – wish it were also on Xbox because it looks like the developer has taken some of the mechanics from Sunset Overdrive (which they also created) and gone one step higher. π

I was very surprised to see its a PS4 exclusive, I loved Sunset Overdrive too. Here’s hoping for those who dont own a PS4, the new Spidy game makes it way to Xbox π

I’ve never played a Monster Hunter game so I’m hoping I can try a demo at some point. I had forgotten about Spiderman, and possibly the new God of War game. Keen for both.

Far Cry 5 has had a longer development cycle than its predecessor, so hopefully that means it will turn out better. Iβm also hoping the Spider-Man game turns out good.

Yeah that is what I am hoping for too (Far Cry 5 to be really good). AC Origins certainly was a big step up from the last couple of AC games so we can only hope the same thing will happen to Far Cry.

Interesting how Far Cry has become a much bigger franchise after the original developers moved on from the first game and Ubisoft took over development duties. Prior to that it was the thing you ran to see just how good your PC was. π

Yeah back in the day the original Far Cry on the PC was powered by the first iteration of the CryEngine. It looked amazing at the time.

As an interesting point too – all of my anticipated titles are open world in some way. Must be a changing trend with my gaming π
