For a “quiet” year in the evolution of Elite Dangerous it looks like it’ll end with a bang. A teaser rolled out recently revealing that Fleet Carriers will be coming sooner than expected and arrive in the December update.
These megaships were going to be part of the squadrons addition to the game but we’re left out at the last moment much to players disappointment. At that time the plan was for player resources to be combined to allow purchase and construction of the fleet carrier which would then provide a mobile base of operations for the squadron. If this is still going to be case we’ll find out in the coming months but I hope that there are some options for players to allow both large and small squadrons have options in enabling this.
This was perhaps the biggest of the announcements that came from the Lavecon event but there were others including further enhancements to player onboarding and a transition to a new in game currency system. The full details of these can be found here.
Elite Dangerous is out now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Awesome – can’t wait 🙂
