The Late Night Update – Nov 2025 Edition

It’s been a bit quiet on the site front of late and much of that has had to do with an unexpected change in circumstances after a contract fell through… the joys of being a developer in time when management thinks AI can solve everything but find out later it can’t. Anyway, that’s the past right now and we’re back on track with a new role and I’m back prattling on about games again.

First up is a South of Midnight review that I had been sitting on since May (!) – so long in fact that the screenshots I had saved on my console had been removed after Xbox changed their policy for retaining captures. A few tweaks and it’s finally out. I know The Game Awards is more marketing that real awards, but it seems like a bit of a dropped ball that this game did not get nominated for more.

I have been playing a lot of games during my quiet months, ranging from The Blue Prince to Battlefield 6 and more. But the real winner for me has been Helldivers II – when hell froze over and we saw another PlayStation game come to Xbox I took the plunge (lol) and grabbed it day one and it’s been A LOT of fun. Maybe the first game in a long time that hits all the right notes for me and I’m still playing after unlocking almost everything.

Another trip to PAX Australia was completed this year too and while it still felt low key compared to the early years, there was still plenty to see and visit. I need to share pics of that soon.

That’s it for the moment, but hopefully not so long a break between posts! 🙂
