TRON 3 rumoured to commence filming in October

Reports from Vancity Buzz which were then picked up by IGN seem to indicate that the often rumoured follow up to TRON: Legacy is finally going to begin filming in October of this year.

Vancouver was used for shooting the last film so it makes sense to use the same location, especially if familiar places are going to appear again.

A lot of assumptions are being made as to who is returning to the production but director Joseph Kosinksi and Garrett Hedlund (Sam Flynn) would almost be expected to be the first names to be mentioned. Olivia Wilde (Quorra) might make a return as well could Jeff Bridges (Kevin Flynn/CLU) because everyone knows how important it is to back up your personal data…

Bruce Boxleitner (Alan Bradley/TRON) I think might be an automatic inclusion; the last film as well as a short that was part of its Blu-Ray release (TRON: The Next Day) hint that there is more to come from his character/s. Cillian Murphy (Dillinger Jr) also had a brief cameo in both that may be leading to his greater involvement too.

I was a big fan of TRON:Legacy – the film was a long time coming and though it had some rough edges (I hope there are no backups for Michael Sheen’s character) it was something worth seeing in the cinemas purely for the audiovisual feast it provided. Go check it out if you haven’t seen it already.

If the reports are accurate, we may have to expect at earliest a 2017 release date for the film.
