Hunting the truth with Halo 5

UPDATED: Over the weekend, a teaser site appeared on tumblr with a countdown clock, hinting that something was coming very soon in relation the Halo 5: Guardians. That plus the Twitter hashtag #HUNTtheTRUTH and a confirmation that server hosting will be supported for all game types (including customs) has helped fuel a fire in a very short space of time.

With retweets from the site including the line “What seems like the end is only the beginning.” and the recent quotes from Mike Colter who plays Agent Locke in both Halo: Nightfall and the upcoming game, we’ve got to assume we’re looking at some kind of resurrection of our favourite blue AI.

Time’s up and the site has revealed itself to be a fictional “news site” involving a journalist on their quest to understand the truth about the Master Chief, Halo‘s main protagonist. Reports will be posted weekly to fill out the story and as time progresses I’m guessing that elements to the next game’s back story will be filled out.

Worth checking out the video again too on the site as it encourages users to manually skip through single frames using its own player. Seems there’s a bit more to that bullet than you might have seen before. A big tease as to the direction this will all take?

  1. Looks like it’s another ploy to begin building up the hype again for the game by focusing on characters. With the last game making a ploy to have the Master Chief appear more human, this could be the next step in that process.
