Everyone knew it was coming but now it’s official: Call of Duty: Black Ops III is coming.
Much like last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 is set in the future providing players with a variety of high tech toys to rain down destruction on their opponents.
That may seem at first like a “me too” concept considering that even the game before that (Call of Duty: Ghosts) was also set in the future but each title (developed by separate teams) do have their own stories to tell. With a three year gap since developer Treyarch’s last game, there’s hopefully a little more room now for innovation in that area.
Where Advanced Warfare focused on the topic of private military contractors gaining power, Black Ops 3 appears to be working on the topic of genetic and cybernetic augmentation of people going too far. The teaser certainly is pointing the game’s plot in a direction that reminds me of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and its upcoming sequel Mankind Divided.
The game itself is promising some big changes to the game including the addition of a four player cooperative campaign which is a first for the franchise. A bigger zombies mode will also be coming too.
Call of Duty: Back Ops III will arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 6. Activision will begin counting its profits a few minutes after that.
