So the beta is out and finishes on October 12th. My advice if you are sitting on the fence, download the beta and give it a go. I’m loving the new Star Wars: Battlefront so far.
The beta seems to be copping some criticism with the single player / two player survival missions but I actually find these incredibly fun. Sure, it would have been great to have a proper single player campaign but I am still sold and intend on buying the full release on the Xbox One.
I’ve been really enjoying this beta but was struggling to get some kills in multiplayer. Then I came across a video by jackfrags with two great tips for playing Star Wars: Battlefront.
Tip #1 – use third person view.
This tip makes sense since a lot of the time in the original Battlefront games I found myself using third person. The main reason it works so well is because you get a better field of view.
Tip #2 – don’t aim down the sights.
As jackfrags points out most shooters have been designed to improve accuracy by aiming down the sights. It doesn’t seem to be the case in Star Wars: Battlefront. In the beta anyway aiming down the sights slows your movement down and you can hit enemies fine from the standard view.
These two tips have elevated my game hugely. In my first match using these two tips I went from getting one or two kills to seven kills plus several defense bonuses for guarding the escape pods.
I highly recommend you try this style of play if you intend on giving the beta, or the full game a go.
