As reported on Major Nelson, September’s Games with Gold releases have all been announced. The list of titles for the month are:
- Earthlock: Festival of Magic – September 1-30, Xbox One
- Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China – September 16-October 15, Xbox One
- Forza Horizon – September 1-15, Xbox 360
- Mirror’s Edge – September 16-30, Xbox 360
Earthlock is a new RPG that will make its debut through Games with Gold – judging from the video below it’s a mix of JRPG mechanics with a more European art style. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is one of a group of 2D spinoffs of the Assassin’s Creed games that were released over the last year or two offering new stories within the franchise.
The 360 games on offer are again big news to me. The original Forza Horizon makes the jump to Xbox One just in time for the third game to arrive at the end of the month. If you’ve never played it before or have only played the sequel, this is a good game to jump into – at times it may not feel as “open” as FH2 but the gameplay is there and I found it a fun game to return to.
With Mirror’s Edge Catalyst now out, getting your hands on the original game is a nice bonus. The way DICE were able to make freerunning feel so fluid is still uncanny even now and though the game isn’t perfect it is a unique experience that shows a first person game can be successful even when guns aren’t the focus of it.
As with all 360 games now on Games with Gold, they’re backward compatible and ready to go on your Xbox One from the moment you download them.
Good to see Forza Horizon making it’s way to BC.

I’m going to be VERY curious to see how well it runs in BC on the Xbox One – we might have to get into a few races and see how it holds up online. 🙂
