Countdown to PAX Australia 2016

The arrival of a three day pass in my mail can be only one mean one thing: PAX Australia is not that far away! In less than a month gamers will be converging again on Melbourne to check out a lot of video games, play Magic The Gathering, and see if StreetPass still works on their 3DS.

Nothing about the schedule has been revealed yet with the exception of Larry Hryb, aka Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, being the speaker at the opening keynote:

Storytime with Major Nelson

Xbox’s Major Nelson will provide the opening ‘storytime’ keynote at PAX Australia 2016!

An Emmy Award-winning Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry has been instrumental in the development of Xbox platforms and Xbox LIVE since 2003. He runs the long running and popular weekly podcast “Major Nelson Radio”, hosts and handles interviews for many major gaming events and launches, and provides an inside look at operations at Microsoft’s Xbox division.

The storytime keynote happens first-up on Friday morning, November 4th in the Main Theatre.

With Phil Spencer recently down here for the EB Games Expo, it seems that the Xbox team are showing a bit of love for Australia which is good to see and timely considering one of their competitors is rolling out new hardware soon.

As usual, I’ll try to write about my time there and my impressions of it. After a bit of a health kick I’m feeling much more energetic and am really looking forward to running the gauntlet again. 🙂

PAX Australia 2016 runs from Nov 4-6. Badges for all days are still available – details can be found on their website.
