Originally, it seemed the plan for “seasons” within Elite Dangerous would be for yearly expansions however with the pace of updates for Horizons, with the year almost done we’ve only reached the halfway point in the release schedule. It certainly makes my in-progress review of the expansion some time ago rather ill-named. ๐
As a result, Frontier have changed wording on their website to make it clear we have more to see from Horizons in 2017. With two more expansions planned, the next one is titled “The Commanders” and will enable multi crewed ships with friends, we could be seeing at least another six months of new content before the next season arrives.
I’m sure there are a few players who are quite content with the current rate of updates so having to wait a while longer before spending more on the game is not such a bad thing. There’s probably one or two still on a long haul flight for high paying passengers too…
See the video below as the ever awesome Obsidian Ant discusses that news further and also a couple more interesting things that have been discovered recently in the game.
I’m going through a Elite Dangerous free phase at the moment. Ever since I upgraded my Anaconda I haven’t felt the urge to re-visit. A lot of my gaming mates keep telling me how awesome Star Citizen is too so I may have to check that out soon. ๐

Last time I tried to log into Star Citizen’s persistent universe (the MMO part) I wasn’t too successful but I’m willing to try again. The game still looks very, VERY good. ๐
