The announcement by Major Nelson for next month’s Xbox Games with Gold takes the puzzle concept into a couple of directions that might not be familiar to a lot of players but possibly rewarding if you’re willing to give them a go.
- Trials of the Blood Dragon – March 1-31, Xbox One
- SUPERHOT – March 16-April 15, Xbox One
- Brave: The Video Game – March 1-15, Xbox 360
- Quantum Conundrum – March 16-31, Xbox 360
It seems like a strange idea for Ubisoft to mash together the Trials games with a Far Cry 3 spinoff but that’s what you get with Trials of the Blood Dragon. If you’re a fan of either maybe it will be a fun distraction for you!
Trying to play a first person shooter where time only moves when you do is the idea behind SUPERHOT and it’s a fascinating game to see in action backed up with a really cool retro VR look.
Brave: The Video Game gives players a chance to take part in the Disney/Pixar movie which I’m not familiar with unfortunately. But great for the little Xbox gamers amongst us.
Finally Quantum Conundrum is a first person puzzle platformer from one of the creators of Portal which allows players to impart unique physical properties to the world as they complete tasks. John de Lancie (Q of Star Trek: The Next Generation) brings his voice to the game too with his familiar tone and wit.
The closest I’ve got to any of these is a demo of SUPERHOT and I’m looking forward to both that and Quantum Conundrum which is also highly regarded. Alas, both of those are in the second half of the month but I’m sure I can wait. 😉
