August is looking to be a bumper month for Xbox Gold subscribers with a great assortment of games incoming.
As reported on Major Nelson’s site, the game in question are:
- Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox One, Aug 1-31)
- For Honor (Xbox One, Aug 16 – Sep 15)
- Dead Space 3 (Xbox 360, Aug 1-15)
- Epic Mickey 2: The Power of 2 (Xbox 360, Aug 16-31)
During the early years of the Xbox One Forza Horizon 2 remained easily my most played game on the platform and IMHO the best racer too until its sequel arrived. Less serious than Forza Motorsport, more arcade like and you could even spend an hour driving around the game world doing whatever you want.
For Honor is a Melee-em-up that lets you find out what would happen if you could pit Knights, Vikings and Samurai against each other. It’s been well supported by Ubisoft since launch (the last patch only arrived in June) so this is by no means an old or neglected game.
The two Xbox 360 games in the list might be ones that not everyone had a chance to try – I know I had passed on them the first time around. Dead Space 3 closed out EA’s sci-fi survival horror franchise while Epic Mickey 2 is a sequel to a Wii exclusive Disney platformer. Becoming backward compatible on Xbox One might give them a much needed second life.
Looking forward to trying out For Honor 🙂

For Honor is great. I love it. I haven’t played in a long time though.
