It’s been almost eighteen years since the last episode in Bioware’s epic Baldur’s Gate series, Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal was released. Not counting the recent enhanced editions from developer Beamdog that’s a long time to be waiting for a new game but a recent announcement might indicate that it’ll be worth it.

Larian Studios, creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 have just announced that they are working on an official sequel and I’m pretty excited by the prospect of seeing a modern game revisiting this world. The biggest challenge for Larian might be meeting fan expectations. Will we be continuing a story in relation to the Bhaalspawn or is it a new tale? More importantly… is Minsc and Boo returning? If I see a miniature giant space hamster anywhere in this game it’s as good as bought. 🙂
