Star Wars @ D23 Round Up

Seeing as the world is now on the other side of Avengers: Endgame it was probably the right time for Star Wars to get its time in the sun again. Nothing is going to stop me from following the long queue for Disney+ when it launches and I will get my fair share of Marvel but the folks over at Lucasfilm had plenty lined up too and they dropped a few reveals at Disney’s D23 event that should get fans excited.

First up was the trailer for The Mandalorian which will be launching with Disney’s streaming service and it looks every bit the part of what you’d want to see in a live action Star Wars series with plenty of references too. There’s still plenty that’s not known about it but if it delivers it’ll be a great start to upcoming deluge of Star Wars series on their way.

In addition to The Mandalorian there was also the announcement that Ewan McGregor would return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for another series set after the prequel trilogy. With that an the upcoming Rogue One prequel series there’s live action content that covers enough of the film trilogies to be possibly be attractive to a variety of fans. I’m happy to see one more season of The Clone Wars too…

Last up there’s a video revealing a little more of what is coming in The Rise of Skywalker which is now less than four months away. The beginning is a bit of a Star Wars saga retrospective before it dives into the new film. Be warned though – the end of the video may be a major spoiler! I’m assuming that there is still a final trailer on it’s way closer to the film’s launch date but this will keep a lot of people talking until that time arrives.

I am really curious to find out how it’ll all be wrapped up considering how The Last Jedi had taken left fans divided. If director J.J. Abrams can steer the story in a direction that ties it all up satisfactorily it might make the whole trilogy stronger as a result (shock!). But that’s just me thinking about it too much… I can’t wait until December! 🙂
