Games I’m playing this month

When I’m not writing I like to chill with a decent game. As a gamer, it is great to have so much choice. The game could be a short pick up and play title or a longer session.

Here are the games that I’m currently playing:

Gears 5

Really impressive campaign, and some great multiplayer modes.

This was the breath of fresh air the Gears of War series needed. Sure, there is still the odd miss moment (Act 2’s one hit kill boss annoyed me) but the story, graphics, sound and open world elements elevated the campaign to great heights. The various multiplayer modes are also fantastic, and should keep gamers occupied for a very long time. I have to add here that the Game Pass Ultimate subscription service by Microsoft is simply amazing, and gives me the option to play on my Xbox One X and PC, with cross save supported. Just brilliant.

Forza Horizon 4

Still playing this game a year on. One of the best semi-arcade racers out there.

The lure of new cars keeps me coming back to the seasonal events for this game. Season 13 has a plethora of new Porsche cars to win via the various races and events. This game is still the best looking racing game out there, and with the multitude of modes, and seamless multiplayer – it is just so easy to come back to. Running this on the Xbox One X is great. Running Forza Horizon 4 on a decent PC is outstanding. Once again cross save is supported, and it is available via the Game Pass.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Sunk about 120 hours into the single player game. Probably will end up doing the same with Online.

With the latest RDR Online update; which allows you to be a Bounty Hunter, Trader or Collector the game just keeps getting better. While not as fast paced as other games, if you just want to soak in the world and do some missions either with your posse or randoms – it is a great atmospheric experience. I’m also getting better at poker with real players too, which is a bonus. Hopefully PC users will get a formal announcement soon and be able to play Rockstar’s latest masterpiece. I had a fellow gamer suggest I get back into this one and I’m glad I took his advice.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Didn’t grab me the first time I played it, but I’m starting to appreciate this game a lot more coming back to it.

I got back to Shadow of the Tomb Raider after being distracted by so many other games. Haven’t finished it yet, but enjoying the third game in the series. As per usual, looks gorgeous and this time around has more challenging tombs to work out. Stealth combat has been vastly improved, which suits my play style perfectly. This game is also currently on Game Pass.
