Now Installing… Star Wars Squadrons

The game is due at the end of the week but the preloading is already happening for Star Wars Squadrons, EA’s latest game set in a galaxy far, far, away. Weighing in at just over 23GB on Xbox One X it’s a much more compact game compared to similar high profile games which has also reflected in a price that’s quite friendly to the wallet.

What’s notable about Squadrons is that (I think) it’s the first dedicated Star Wars flight sim since X-Wing Alliance back in 1999 so it’s a long time coming. I’m hoping we get a campaign experience that recalls some of what those older games accomplished but will be open to being surprised too. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will support cross platform multiplayer, HOTAS setups and VR (where applicable) which will also make it one of the more interesting multiplatform titles to come out. It’s not going to be controller versus mouse/keyboard like it is in shooters, it’ll be controller v HOTAS v VR. Certainly among my own group of friends we’ll be trying it across all the platforms (Xbox for me!) so I’m curious how the experience works for all while we try shooting each other down in our custom ships. 🙂

Star Wars Squadrons arrives October 2nd for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
