A new year is inbound and so are Xbox’s Games with Gold! Shooters are the main focus of this month and the games in question are:

• NeuroVoider (Xbox, 1-31 Jan)
• Aground (Xbox, 16 Jan-15 Feb)
• Radiant Silvergun (Xbox 360 BC, 1-15 Jan)
• Space Invaders: Infinity Gene (Xbox 360 BC, 16-31 Jan)

The one worth looking at from a historical viewpoint is Treasure’s shooter Radiant Silvergun which prior to its Xbox 360 release would have required you to sell a kidney to get it on the Sega Saturn. It and its sequel Ikaruga are still considered some of the best shooters ever made. Space Invaders: Infinity Gene is an interesting take on the classic shooter with with itss “evolving” levels but I hope we get to see what I think is the superior Space Invaders Extreme make an appearance in the future too as it was one of my favourite 360 games of that time.
