Despite the substantial amount of Star Wars content coming from Disney, the number of PC and console games has been far less prolific with EA only releasing two shooters in the Battlefront series, the flight sim Squadrons and the third person adventure Jedi: Fallen Order.
After the success of Jedi: Fallen Order, which I enjoyed on its release back in 2019, it’s great to see developer Respawn has been given another chance to continue the story of Cal Kestis, survivor of the Jedi purge from the prequel movies. Surviving his previous encounter against not only Imperial Inquisitors but also Darth Vader, the new game’s title is certainly appropriate and how the characters deal with the aftermath of that story I’m really curious to find out.
On Xbox Series X, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is clocking in at 43GB which is much smaller than the original game’s 57GB but we can’t use this as a measure of size to content as Fallen Order was originally an Xbox One title and compression technologies have improved a lot since then. There was plenty to do in that first game so I’ve got no doubts that we’ll once again be seeing a game with plenty to do. This may also be the last Star Wars game from EA before we start seeing games from other publishers so I hope they can end it on a high note.
[UPDATE] A 104GB update to the game (Series X) landed just prior to launch… disappointed that it arrived so late as it pretty much meant my game wasn’t ready on launch day. So much for downloading the game prior to launch day…
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will launch on April 29th for PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
Really looking forward to this one. I’ve pre-installed as well, for PC. 🙂
