Good Old Games (GOG.com) have just announced a new initiative to help make your games even more accessible.
Called GOG Connect, the service allows users to hook into their Steam account and import a selection of titles they already own into their GOG account and get access to DRM free versions if they are available on GOG’s own service. Basically they’re giving you copies of the games on GOG if you’ve already bought them on Steam.
There are some limitations though. The catalog of titles available for importing changes over time so you do need to visit GOG.com regularly to import anything new. It also works on a case by case basis so don’t expect every game you own to be imported either.
All things being said – this is a pretty remarkable gesture by the CD Projekt team over at GOG.com. They understand that gamers are likely to be using multiple services for purchasing their games and giving them a means to access titles they already own elsewhere is a nice little perk that I think is brilliant.
