In what would potentially have been a great four player co-op game, Scalebound production has officially been cancelled.
Microsoft has made this statement:
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including “Halo Wars 2,” “Crackdown 3,” “State of Decay 2,” “Sea of Thieves” and other great experiences. Personally I was keen to see how this game was going to pan out – a decent action rpg with dragons and co-op seemed like a good idea to me, even though some of the game footage was a little underwhelming.
At least we have Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2 to look forward to.
The Late Night Session 
Seemed like the game was being pushed hard by Microsoft last year. Guess those delays were just a hint of the real problems with the game.

I saw reports that Platinum Games was behind schedule and didn’t have the engine working properly. Might’ve been stretching themselves too thin.

I think you could be right. Rumours floating around suggest that resources for Scalebound may have been impacted by Platinum’s work on Nier Automata – a PS4/PC exclusive. So they certainly weren’t short of work, maybe their ability to manage it effectively was the problem.

That’s a shame. This was one of the few Xbox “exclusives” I was looking forward too.
