Lots of news arrived today for fans of Halo with much of it good for those who’re also picking themselves up a shiny new Xbox One X in the coming months. Keeping it brief:
- Halo 5 Guardians‘ 4K update is being handled by the same team that produced the Windows 10 variant of the game. In addition to the usual fixes, the Oddball game variant is also making a return.
- A local server app for Windows 10 is coming that will allows Halo 5 on Xbox One to be played LAN style.
- Halo Wars 2 will not only get a 4K upgrade but will soon also support cross-play between console and Windows 10.
- Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be getting some surprise attention with a pile of updates as well as support for the Xbox One X.
So no matter what kind of Halo you play on console it looks like it’ll be running better soon if you end up with an Xbox One X. Halo MCC certainly needs the extra attention – for all the deserved criticism leveled at it though the package is still incredible value.
How much of a difference it makes we’ll have to see for ourselves but it’s nice to see 343 Industries FINALLY reveal everything they had planned for the machine. The full details can be read here on Halo Waypoint.
