Forza Horizon 3 Xbox One X patch out next week

Microsoft announced back in November that Forza Horizon 3 is getting a Xbox One X patch on the 15th January, 2018. Thankfully we now don’t have that long to wait. PC users with a decent rig have been playing Forza Horizon 3 in 4K since launch.

Forza Motorsport 7 looks great in 4K on the Xbox One X so I think Forza Horizon 3’s anticipated Xbox One X update is very welcome indeed. Not a lot of detail has been released, apart from being in 4K, but I suspect that it will keep the locked 30fps as on the original Xbox One / Xbox One S and have things like improved draw distance and better terrain generation.

Pretty soon we’ll be able to hoon around in 4K on the Xbox One X.

Gamers are still playing Forza Horizon 3 because of the open world nature of the game. I’m a fan of both the Motorsport and Horizon series but if I had to be honest, the Horizon games seem to be doing more with each game in the series. The Motorsport series has had some improvements in 7, but overall it hasn’t evolved as much as it should and needs some fresh ideas, like qualifying and proper animated flags / pits.

Looking forward to heading back to the virtual Australia next week via Forza Horizon 3 when the Xbox One X patch launches.
