Even after such a substantial update last year to No Man’s Sky, Hello Games are back at it again with the announcement of their next big expansion. Titled No Man’s Sky: Beyond, it will consist of three major updates to the game. The first of these was revealed as a new mode called No Man’s Sky Online – nothing more was added except to say it’s not an MMO. The full details from Hello Games’ Sean Murray can be found here.
It seems then that the existing multiplayer was just the tip of the iceberg and this is something else entirely. With its naming I wondered at first if it is taking a few ideas from Rockstar’s games and working them into their own by having a free-for-all online mode separate from the main game. That worked out pretty well for Rockstar though in this case it’s not going to include microtransactions at all which I was surprised with. Maybe they’re greatly expanding the number of players who can exist in a shared universe? We’ll find out soon enough. 🙂
No Man’s Sky is out now for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Nice that as part of this new update, PSVR owners will finally be able to play this in VR too 🙂
