There’s some big games coming to Games with Gold this month and it’s good to see Microsoft including a couple of its bigger franchise titles. The full announcement can be read here on Major Nelson’s site but the games being given away are:

• Gears of War 4 (Xbox One, August 1-31)
• Forza Motorsport 6 (Xbox One, August 16-September 15)
• Torchlight (Xbox 360 BC, August 1-15)
• Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (Xbox 360 BC, August 16-31)

It could be argued that a lot of players would already have Gears of War 4 or Forza Motorsport 6 (or like me, both) but these are still some of the best games in their respective genres and worth playing. Additionally Gears 5 is just a couple of weeks away so this is a great way to get more people interested. The Torchlight team are doing the same and if Diablo is your thing this game will give you a similar fix just in time for the co-op friendly sequel’s arrival on consoles. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was a 3rd person “reboot” of the popular series which garnered a lot of attention at the time thanks to Hideo Kojima’s involvement but it’s also something I’ve not played myself so am curious to find how it plays. 🙂
