The Games with Gold train continues to deliver this month with the inclusion of a new title too. The announcement can be read here on Major Nelson’s site but the games being given away for September are:
- Hitman: The Complete First Season (Xbox One, September 1-31)
- We Were Here (Xbox One, September 16-October 15)
- Earth Defense Force 2025 (Xbox 360 BC, September 1-15)
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Xbox 360 BC, September 16-30)
We Here Here is a new title that’s being sold as a co-op first person puzzler that could be an interesting test of how well players can work together… or at least not delete each other off friends lists. Hitman was a massive deal when it first launched with its innovative episodic format and the developer’s willingness to iterate over the game and polish it to a high level. My own ability to play it well has been hampered by a lack of patience at times but for those who think combining cosplay with sneaky murders works then it’ll be a treat. Scoring an “accident” with a target is a pretty good feeling though…
Both Earth Defense Force 2025 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 are getting on in age and I’m thinking the latter has been given away in the past so we might be arriving at the point when we see Xbox 360 titles getting recycled in Games with Gold. I hope not as there’s still plenty of games out there but in the lead up to the new console and less emphasis on bringing in new backward compatible titles it’s a possibility. Publishers are probably keen to see their properties get coverage again too and this could be a cheap and effective way to get the message out there.
If anyone else is worse at being Agent 47 than I am please let me know. 🙂
