Just announced in Xbox Wire is news of what’s coming next month for Xbox Gold subscribers and I’m pleasantly surprised with the mix. Full details are here but the games for September are:
- Tom Clancy’s The Division (Xbox One, Sep 1-30)
- The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 (Xbox One, Sep 16-Oct 15)
- de Blob 2 (Xbox 360 BC, Sep 1-15)
- Armed and Dangerous (Xbox BC, Sep 16-30)
Seeing The Division make an appearance here was unexpected but if you’ve not played the game it’s probably the best it’s ever been as the game had a lot of ups and downs in its time since launch but could be argued that it’s in a much better state than its sequel. Set in New York after a pandemic locks the city down you’re sent in to help restore law and order. If it involved fights over toilet paper and pasta I might have confused it with what’s going on now…
Armed and Dangerous (!) is the other game I’m happy to see on the list as it was a fun underrated gem on the original Xbox. Leading a band of misfits and wielding a variety of exotic weapons, including the Land Shark which might be more famous than the game itself, you’re going to spend an awful lot of time shooting stuff which is appropriate considering the title. It’s been so long since I played this I’m hoping it still holds up. We’ll see soon enough!
