It looks like the galaxy might have a few challenges facing it soon as Frontier Developments have announced that update 2.4 (The Return) for Elite Dangerous will go live on the 26th of September.

The lead up to this has been going on for quite some time now with alien probes, ruins, “barnacles” and even crash sites. But the story began to literally take off at the start of the year when alien space craft began intercepting pilots in a rather dramatic fashion.

Now that it has been confirmed that these aliens are Thargoids, the long time enemy of Elite pilots everywhere, it looks like life in the galaxy might start to get a bit nastier. As the video above shows it appears that pilots will soon be developing ways to defend themselves but don’t expect it to be an easy ride. More details regarding the update are in the livestream below which makes for good watching for long term fans.
