Once again Nintendo may not have a presentation at E3 but they still had plenty to say and show via their Nintendo Direct. I’ll keep it short and sweet so you can jump through to the video. π
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 looks really, really good. I’m sure there’s many opinions about the quality of past games but they’ve always been good on the graphics front.
- A tactics game based on the new Dark Crystal series on Netflix? Wow… would not have imagined that for sure!
- The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is coming to Switch with all its DLC. Whatever dark arts were used to achieve it I hope it means they sell bucket loads.
- Judging from the trailer Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 The Black Order looks like a sequel that will meet expectations of long time fans of the series.
- Super Smash Bros Ultimate has Banjo-Kazooie DLC on the way.
- Confirmation that a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is under development.
By managing their announcements through the Nintendo Direct format instead of a potentially risky live presentation format they can keep the messaging clear and focus completely on the games… and there were a lot of games too. It’s really slick work.
The full Nintendo Direct can be seen below:
You missed the Dragon Quest heroes also coming to Smash! π
Nintendo was really strong this year, lots of stuff to be excited about. I’ve already preordered my physical copy of Collection of Mana, I’ve wanted to explore those games for the longest time.

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned the DQ heroes too but was afraid I might get the details wrong. π
Nintendo come across as being so confident in what they are presenting that I can’t help be impressed. Amazing how much things have changed when Nintendo are totally okay with presenting a game from John Romero (Empire of Sin).
All this makes it easier every month to convince myself on buying a Switch too! π

You should definitely get a Switch! It’s a wonderful machine for both modern and retro games… and you can take them on the go! Do not underestimate the wonder that is having a machine that can play Pong anywhere… with two controllers ready to go at any time! π

I should add that Empire of Sin is actually Brenda Romero’s game – John is a co-creator.
