Now… this is better! After what felt like a disappointing round of Games with Gold in June I wasn’t expecting much from July as its announcement (again) arrived at the last moment. But after seeing what’s coming it does feel like an improvement. The full announcement can be read here on Major Nelson’s site but the games being given away are:

• Inside (Xbox One, July 1-31)
• Big Crown Showdown (Xbox One, July 16-Aug 15)
• Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Xbox 360 BC, July 1-15)
• Meet the Robinsons (Xbox 360 BC, July 16-31)

Saying too much about Inside might ruin it for new players as it’s an amazing experience from the developers of Limbo and highly deserving of your time. It’s quite short but worthwhile with plenty of shocks and surprises along the way.

After just bingeing my way through season 2 of the excellent Castlevania Netflix series getting my hands on the 360 port of the classic PlayStation game is perfect timing. Yes, it’s a twenty year old game but considered a rather good one and since I’ve been playing more games in the genre lately it works for me.  🙂

Rounding out the collection there’s a movie tie in with Meet the Robinsons and a multiplayer centric title with Big Crown Showdown. Maybe not big name games but I think it helps to round out the package and give players options. For me I’ll know soon enough if it’s a good month once I start playing Castlevania…
