TLNS Game of the Year 2016 Nominees – Prizes to be Won

Note: Voting is now closed – results can be found here.

Happy New Year – I hope 2017 is a great year for everyone.

There have been some great games released in 2016, perhaps not as varied as 2015, but still plenty to play.

It is your time to nominate what you think the 2016 Game of the Year is. We at The Late Night Session are keeping this pretty simple. We are basing GOTY on the games we’ve played, so it won’t necessarily be a full nomination list. At the end of the voting process Night Owl and I will both nominate what we think the GOTY recipient is.

So in effect we’ll have three potential GOTY winners, one as chosen by our readers, one by Grocs and one by Night Owl.

Please add what game from this list gets your GOTY or suggest another one that we can add if you like. Provide a brief reason as to why.

Readers who vote and comment go into a draw to win a Gears of War 1,2, 3 or Judgement Xbox backward compatibility codes. To be completely transparent I don’t know whether these codes are region locked or not but Night Owl and I are happy to provide them to the random winners and see how it goes.

Voting closes January 20th, 2017. Night Owl and I will post our final thoughts on which game gets our vote after you have voted. Game codes will be sent out to random winners 21st and 22nd January, 2017.

Good luck!

    • I suppose with X-COM 2 (and The Witness too) the main reason those didn’t make an appearance was that they appeared on our preferred platform (Xbox One) much later than its initial launch so then they get lost amongst the other new games. I should look at X-COM 2 though… I REALLY liked the last game. πŸ™‚

My son is a Pokemon fan and he got a 2DS and Sun during the holiday break. Hoping to turn him into a gamer through it. πŸ™‚

    • I think it just a case of The Witness arriving on Xbox One much later than PC and PS4 – by the time it got to our preferred platform there were other games to play. However will still likely check it out in the future. πŸ™‚

  1. Had to say that Quantum Break did it for me this year. I really need to play through it again. Though if Uncharted 4 were on this list, I’d probably have chosen that! Two VERY good narrative based games…

I really need to get my hands on XCOM again.

Oh, and don’t put me in the running for the games. I already have them πŸ™‚

  2. I think Uncharted 4 and XCOM 2 should be on the list. I haven’t played either of them, nor The Witness for that matter, but they were pretty big releases. We will add soon. πŸ™‚
