April game releases 2016

Another month of spending far too much money on games.

We’ve got some good ones in April. Here are my picks:

Quantum Break

The creators of Max Payne and Alan Wake have finally released their XB1 flagship title. This game is a very stylish take on what happens when a genius and corporation fiddles with the basic elements of time. Gameplay wise this plays quite similarly to Remedy’s earlier efforts too. One of the best looking games on the Xbox One for those looking for a competent third person shooter with a good story look no further. I would expect anyone who doesn’t have a decent PC rig might actually buy a XB1 for this. Chances are Night Owl will finish this one before me so expect a review soon.

QB 2

Expect to make some choices at the end of each main chapter, that will affect the game in subtle ways.

Dark Souls 3

The last game in the trilogy and for Dark Souls fans this is not to be missed. Game mechanics have been tightened up and the level and creature design is simply fantastic. This is why I haven’t played much of Quantum Break – it is just too addictive to put down. Prepare to die a lot but get a supreme sense of satisfaction you were able to get through to the next bonfire. Review will be forthcoming, but the average Dark Souls game is about 60 hours so it may not be for a bit yet.

Dark Souls 3 (2)

Dark Souls 3 is a great return to form with amazing level design.

  1. Dark Souls 3 is amazing – that is what I’m hooked on. So far from what I’ve played it is heading towards being the best Dark Souls game yet.
